This pic has nothing whatsoever to do with our house or even our own cats. We just found it and thought it was cute! (It's a kitten with a carboy of mead, for those not familiar with Don's mead.)

Kailyn found a really neat caterpillar: a pipevine swallowtail caterpillar, which is fairly poisonous because it eats dutchman's pipe leaves

Don takes the neatest pictures. Notice the little translucent 'antlers' the caterpillar puts out when startled

Japanese wineberry. It looked interesting, but it turns out to be an exotic invasive, unfortunately. *

Connor got up in the morning complaining that it was too cold to go tubing, but it didn't take him long to perk up and decide he actually couldn't wait to get into the river

The kids were really excited to find this bunch of tiger swallowtails. Though we soon found that such clusters of them were pretty common to the area, it was still amazing to see every time
